What is breathplay exactly?

It's the pactice to have your breath restricted or removed for a small amount of time.

If you have not a trusted mate, it's really dangerous.

As an experienced fetishist I would have to say to be incredibly careful in this area.
ALWAYS have a friend to take care of you if you do these kinds of things, and make sure they don't, for example, go to make a phone call or something while you are in bondage. If you can't do it safely, don't do it at all.
Even in latex self-bondage you can get into serious breathing problems, so just don't do it without backup present.
And that doesn't mean "online backup". Oxygen is quite important to most of us for survival...
